Straight answers
What we do, and what we don’t
A handyman is the right call for most of the list. A few jobs belong with a licensed trade, and we’ll always say so.
Happy to help with
- Repairs, installs and assembly that take an hour to a day
- Swapping fixtures, faucets, fans and switches like for like
- Drywall, trim, caulk and paint touch-ups
- Doors, locks, shelves and everything that hangs on a wall
- Small outdoor repairs and seasonal upkeep
Better for a specialist
- New electrical circuits and panel work
- Gas lines and water heaters
- Roof repairs and anything above one story
- Structural changes and additions
- Jobs that need a building permit
Not sure which side your job is on? Ask us. If it isn’t ours, we’ll recommend someone we trust.

Meet your handyman
Hi, I’m Marcus
I spent twelve years as a finish carpenter before starting Level Best in 2016. I kept meeting homeowners who couldn’t get anyone to show up for a small job, so I built a business around exactly those jobs. Today we’re a crew of three, and I still answer the phone myself.

Neighbors who crossed it off

I had a list of eleven things that had been bugging me for two years. Marcus did all of them in one morning and left the house cleaner than he found it.
Hannah P.Half-day visit · North End -
Showed up exactly when he said, mounted two TVs and fixed a door that hadn’t closed since we moved in. The estimate on the website was within ten dollars.
Daniel K.Mounting and doors · Meridian -
He told me honestly that one of my jobs needed an electrician and gave me a name. That’s why I’ll keep calling him for everything else.
Rosa M.Light fixtures · Boise Bench -
We use Level Best for all three of our rentals. Fair, fast and they send photos when the work is done.

Good questions
Before we knock
How do your rates work?
We charge by the hour, rounded to the half hour, with a one-hour minimum. Longer lists are cheaper as a half day or a full day. Materials are extra, at cost, and you get the receipt.
Do I need to buy the materials?
Either is fine. Have your fixtures and parts ready, or tell us what you need and we’ll bring them. We don’t mark materials up.
Do I need to be home?
For the first visit we like to meet you and walk through the list. After that, many clients leave a door code and we send photos when the work is done.
What if a job takes longer than the estimate?
We’ll tell you as soon as we know, before the extra time is spent, and you decide whether to carry on or leave it for another visit.
Is your work guaranteed?
Yes. If something we fixed or installed isn’t right within 12 months, we come back and put it right at no charge.
Are you licensed and insured?
We’re a registered Idaho contractor and carry full liability insurance. Jobs that need a licensed electrician or plumber we refer on.
Ready to cross it off the list?
Tick off your jobs, see your price and send us the days that suit you. We’ll text you back within a few hours.
