Trauma & EMDR
Trauma isn’t only about what happened. It’s about what stayed with you afterward. Whether it was one frightening event or years of feeling unsafe, therapy can help your mind and body finally file it away as the past.
What it can feel like
- Memories or images that pop up out of nowhere
- Feeling jumpy, numb or far away from yourself
- Strong reactions that seem bigger than the moment
- Trouble trusting people, or yourself
- Sleep that never feels restful
If some of these sound familiar, you’re not alone, and it’s very treatable.
How we help
Safety comes first. Before we touch hard memories, we build steadiness: ways to ground yourself and a clear sense that you’re in control of the pace.
We use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a well-researched therapy that helps the brain reprocess painful memories so they lose their charge. Many clients notice change sooner than they expected.
